Owner/builders or DIY’s (Do-It-Yourselfers) can achieve some of the lowest
building costs. This charming adobe home was built by the owner using
recycled materials.
The finished style of these bricks are deeply pointed to exemplify the brick shape.
The finished style, whether it be pointed to plastered smooth, is entirely the

Finished adobe home with a pointed finish.
This two-story adobe brick home required a buttress on the lower
level to support the wall span as there were no interior adobe walls.
Your engineer will place buttresses where required in the design
of your structure.
This picture shows repaired cracks that were ½” (10mm) wide or more. The
cracks were most likely due to laying improperly cured bricks into the wall.
The cracks did not penetrate through the thickness of the wall, but as you can
see repair is possible for even large cracks.
